Why should I use you, and not this other produce service?
You say local farmers, how local is "local"?
Right now all of the farmers that supply your produce are within less than 150 miles from Houston. We do realize that not all produce grows within that distance, and as we add more farmers that have different crops we will keep it within Texas.
Are all your produce organic?
While we are trying to get as much organic produce as we can, not all of our farmers are certified (it costs money and takes a lot of paper work to become certified). We do work only with farmers who are either certified as organic or grow their crops in the organic and natural way.
Are you able to pick and choose what's in the box? If you don't like watermelon, can you substitute corn, etc...? Or is what's in the box just what's in the box?
At the moment we only have our seasonal Weekly Basket™; over time as we expand our service we will add the option to allow you to create your basket. In the mean time if you have a neighbor who is also a Food Renewed™ member, feel free to exchange items.
Is it a flat fee? If you're going to be out of town for two weeks, are you still charged?
Yes, it is a flat fee. If you go out of town on vacation or any other trip just let us know, we will put your Weekly Basket™ on hold until you get back, and will not charge you while you're away. What's the point in leaving a box with perfectly good and fresh produce, if there's no one home to enjoy them?
Are you able to get things such as local honey/bees wax, eggs, and fresh meats?
We talked to a few different local producers, and are planning on adding the option of buying all local cheeses, honey, eggs, bacon, poultry, beef, pork and more. So stay tuned all of that and more will be coming soon.
I share a studio within the delivery area, but live further out outside the distribution area... would it be possible to have deliveries made to the studio?
Absolutely! We can bring the weekly box to your studio, to us it doesn't really matter if we deliver to a commercial (studio,office, shop etc.) or residential location.
